Starting in 2010 Forest Youth Success, in cooperation with the Stevenson-Carson School District, developed a curriculum that allows participants to earn high school credit for their experience at FYS. Workers are eligible for 1 credit of “Forest Teamwork.” Mentors are eligible for the “Forest Teamwork” credit and a .5 credits of “Forest Leadership.” All credits are counted as elective credits.*
*Credit is issued by Stevenson-Carson School District. Students who attend schools in other districts and or are home schooled should contact the program director to see if they are eligible for this credit.
While some of the lessons will take place in the classroom, many will not. At FYS participants are always in a learning environment. Whether they are out in the field, participating in an initiative, or enjoying a guest lecture the participants are actively engaged in the learning process.
